Download the app, connect it to the editor you already use, and start cutting. Open-source under the MIT license. Studio's cloud AI is optional and never required.
Built by an editor who uses it daily
Every feature came from a real editing problem, not a feature roadmap.
No generic output
Results are tailored to your actual transcript, with timestamps, hooks and titles that reference your specific content.
Edit where you edit
The plugin sends results straight to your timeline, so nothing gets copy-pasted between apps.
Actually ships
New features land most weeks, because the person building it uses it on real projects every day.
Common questions
Quick answers. If you need more, reach out anytime.
Is the app really free? +
Yes, forever. The app is free and open-source under the MIT license. Multicam auto-switch, silence removal, captions, compression, and Assets run on your machine. No account, no credit card, no trial. The code is on GitHub.
Can I import SVG files into Premiere Pro? +
SmoothyApp 1.5 adds an SVG importer in the Assets tab. It converts the SVG into a PNG at your chosen size, preserves a transparent background, and sends the PNG to Premiere. The imported graphic is a still image, rather than an editable vector.
Do I need an account to use it? +
No. Download it, install it, and it works with your footage locally. An account is only needed if you want to use Studio, the optional cloud add-on.
When can I use Stock Footage and Audio Library? +
Both are available in SmoothyApp 1.5.1 for Mac. Windows remains on 1.5.0 while its update is being built. Online search, previews and downloads need an internet connection, but no SmoothyEdit account or Studio subscription.
Which editors are supported? +
Premiere Pro is supported today. A DaVinci Resolve plugin is coming soon; you can already export SRT subtitles for Resolve.
Is my footage private? +
Yes. Multicam, silence, captions, and compression all run on your machine. Your media never leaves your computer. Only Studio's cloud AI sends data, and only audio or text.
What is Studio? +
Studio is the optional cloud add-on. A free account includes limited cloud AI — Shorts markers, hook ideas, titles and descriptions. Studio Pro ($5/month, 2,000 credits every 30 days) unlocks the full set, including Best Shorts markers sent to your timeline, plus new cloud tools as they ship. It is separate from the free app and never required.
