ExploreSend Studio marker suggestions to the loaded Resolve timeline. Existing markers are preserved, and a collision stops the action.
ExploreUse the loaded Resolve timeline’s audio as the source for captions or Studio, with known trims, offsets and microphone channels.
ExploreSelect DaVinci Resolve Free in SmoothyApp’s editor switcher. Open Multicam or Silence Removal and click Install Resolve helpers once in the Resolve section.
In Resolve, open Workspace → Scripts → Smoothy Connector once per session. It waits for local requests in the background; no external server or scripting port is used.
Apply in Multicam or Silence Removal, or send from Captions, Assets, AI Photos, Stock Footage or Audio Library. Confirm the new timeline or Media Pool item in Resolve.
The connector can be started from Resolve’s Scripts menu. A Console command remains available as a one-shot fallback if the menu has not refreshed.
The generated timeline focuses on the edit Smoothy makes. Copy the parts that affect sync and leave the look you built in Resolve where it belongs.
Decompose nested and multicam clips, then remove retiming, transitions and animated effects before running a tool. The XML carries editable cuts rather than Resolve’s internal effects.
Grades, transforms, Fusion and clip effects, fades, automation and mixer processing are not copied. Review the imported timeline and rebuild the look in Resolve.
One click in SmoothyApp sends the request. Resolve imports the timeline, media or subtitle and Smoothy waits for the native receipt before reporting success.
Every action saves a real file first. Import the XML, PNG, MP4, MP3 or SRT manually at any time, including when the connector is not running.
Original timelines and media are not replaced. Smoothy creates a new timeline or adds items to the Media Pool, so you can compare and undo.
Yes. SmoothyApp uses Resolve’s built-in scripting through a local helper, so the free version works. You do not need a Resolve Studio licence, a plugin purchase or an external scripting connection.
No. SmoothyApp installs its Lua Scripts helpers into your Resolve Scripts/Utility folder when you click Install Resolve helpers. Start Smoothy Connector once per Resolve session from Workspace → Scripts, and sends and timeline loads run automatically.
Yes — Resolve is the supported editor on Linux, with the full workflow: multicam, silence removal, captions, media imports and Shorts markers. The helpers install into Resolve’s Scripts/Utility folder under ~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve. The Premiere panel is not installed on Linux because Premiere Pro does not run there.
Automatic multicam, silence removal, local captions and SRT import, Assets PNG imports, AI Photos results, Stock Footage and Audio Library imports, Shorts markers, and reading a Resolve timeline as a captions or Studio source.
No. Multicam and Silence Removal build a new timeline XML and send that as a separate timeline. Media imports add items to the Media Pool. Your source timeline and media stay as they were.
The generated XML copies source timing, selected microphone channels and clip cuts. It does not carry grades, transforms, Fusion or clip effects, fades, automation, transitions or mixer processing. Decompose nested and multicam clips and remove retiming and animated effects before exporting.
No. Multicam Apply and Silence Removal read the current timeline automatically. To send markers or use the timeline as a captions or Studio source, load it in SmoothyApp first, then refresh it there after you change it in Resolve.
Start Smoothy Connector once per Resolve session. Restarting SmoothyApp does not require restarting Resolve; the app reconnects to the running connector. If you closed Resolve, start the connector again after reopening it.
Smoothy keeps the saved XML, PNG, MP4 or SRT and shows its location. Use Resolve’s File → Import → Timeline, Import → Media or Import → Subtitle to bring the file in manually. The manual path stays available for every tool.
