Clear captions begin
with a careful listen.

Accuracy depends on the recording, language and model. Background music, overlapping voices, names and dialects can need a correction.

For Arabic, choose Arabic and consider Large v3 Turbo. Tiny and Base can miss words or repeat phrases with dialect speech. Check the transcript before you export.

Arabic and many other supported languages are outside Adobe’s native Speech to Text list. You can still import reviewed Arabic captions into Premiere.

A few useful answers

Before your
next edit.

Can I make Arabic captions for Premiere Pro?

Yes. Use Arabic with a multilingual Whisper model. Arabic is outside Adobe’s published native Speech to Text language list, but Premiere can import the reviewed subtitles. Large v3 Turbo is a useful option for Arabic and dialect speech.

Can I use the SRT in DaVinci Resolve Free?

Yes. Transcribe a matching local media file, save the SRT, then import it into Resolve as a subtitle track. No Premiere or Resolve Studio upgrade is needed for this file workflow. The native Resolve plugin is still upcoming.

Are local captions free without an account?

Yes. Local Whisper transcription, text and timing edits, caption reformatting and subtitle export are free desktop tools. No SmoothyEdit account or cloud subscription is needed.

Can I use captions without Premiere?

Yes. Choose a supported local audio or video file, generate captions and export an SRT. Importing directly into Premiere requires the bundled panel and an open project.

Can I transcribe without internet?

Once a model is downloaded, local transcription works without an internet connection. The initial model download requires internet and space on your computer.

Which model should I choose?

Smaller models use fewer resources but may miss words or struggle with dialects. Larger models need more memory and processing time. Review representative audio; for Arabic and dialect speech, Large v3 Turbo is a useful accuracy option.
