Create Images and Thumbnail Reactions in SmoothyApp AI Photos

Use prompts, image references and reaction presets in SmoothyApp AI Photos. Review results, refine them and save files with optional cloud AI credits.

By the SmoothyEdit team

AI Photos gives image work a place beside your edit. Describe a scene, provide a reference when needed, and refine the result in the same workspace. Reactions adds expression presets for images you can use in a thumbnail design.

These are optional cloud tools. The desktop workspace uses a signed-in account and available credits, with access depending on your plan. Generation costs vary with the selected model and request. The pricing page explains the plan; free local Assets tools remain separate.

Write a brief you can judge

Open AI Photos and describe the subject, composition and intended use. “A clean background with empty space on the left for a title” is more useful than asking for a great thumbnail without explaining the layout.

Choose an available model and supported shape or size. Options differ by model, including support for image references. Use the displayed estimate as a planning aid, not a promise that every request costs the same number of credits.

If you want to edit an existing image, attach the reference and describe the change. Use material you have permission to use. Check that the selected model supports the input you are providing.

Review, then refine

Look at the first result as a draft. Check text, faces, hands, edges and any object that matters to the scene. Ask for a specific revision rather than repeating a vague request. Keep the intended layout in mind as you refine.

A generated image can be useful without being the final design. Place the result behind actual title text, add your own graphics and test it at the size a viewer will see. Studio’s thumbnail ideas can help plan a composition, but that tool returns written concepts rather than finished image files.

Use reactions with a purpose

Open Reactions in AI Photos to choose expression presets, with a suitable reference and optional instructions. Review each generated result before saving it. Multiple generated results use credits individually; selecting a preset is not the same as generating an image.

Match the expression to the video. A quiet explanation may call for curiosity rather than shock. Do not use a generated reaction to imply a real event or endorsement that did not happen. Reaction images are assets for your design, not an automatic complete thumbnail.

Save what matters

Download the images you want to keep or import them into your Premiere project through the bundled panel. Paid cloud history retains the newest images within both a 30-image and 100 MB limit. Older images, including favorites, can be removed when a limit is reached. Keep important originals and final versions in your own project files.

A successful generation can remain downloadable even when cloud saving fails; read any save notice before assuming the image is in history. Free or anonymous web generations do not receive paid image retention.

For cutouts or enlargement of an existing image without cloud processing, use the local Assets tools. For the wider AI workflow, read what Studio includes.
