01 Automatic multicam switching

One conversation.
All the right angles.

Smoothy detects activity on your separate microphone tracks and switches to the mapped camera. In Premiere it works on a duplicate timeline; in Resolve it sends a new timeline. Your original stays available.

  • Camera switching driven by the active speaker
  • Continuous microphone audio through the camera cuts
  • Source clips and nested sequences supported
  • Existing video clip effects and keyframes preserved in Premiere

Built for podcasts & interviews

A first pass you
can still shape.

Set the minimum cut duration and hold timing to suit the conversation. Review overlapping speech, add reaction shots and decide where a wide angle tells the story better.

Start with synced footage and a separate mic track for each speaker. Speaker detection guides the rough cut; you finish the editorial decisions.

02 Free local captions

Subtitles without
another sign-up.

Transcribe a Premiere sequence, a Resolve timeline or a local media file with Whisper. Edit cue text and timing, fix a name everywhere, and reformat your captions without transcribing again.

Choose Arabic or another supported language with a multilingual model. Download it once, then process on your own machine. Export an SRT, send it to Premiere, or import it into Resolve’s Media Pool.

03 Audio Cleanup

Clean the take.
Keep the take.

Split a recording into exact Speech and Music tracks, with noise kept in the music. Turn on Enhanced to clean the speech and remove music and noise completely. Everything runs on your computer and saves WAV files you can bring into either editor.

  • Exact separation with no level changes
  • Enhanced speech only, with Less / More on the preview
  • No account, cloud upload or Studio credits
  • One-time engine setup, then offline processing

For interviews and noisy rooms

Less noise.
More of the words.

Pull a music bed away from a spoken take so you can rebalance it, or switch to Enhanced when the voice needs to stand alone. Save the exact Speech and Music WAVs, or the enhanced speech, and keep the original recording for the final mix.

The first separation needs Python 3.12 or uv, an internet connection and several hundred megabytes for the local engine and models. After that, processing works offline.

A few useful answers

Before your
next edit.

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. Install SmoothyApp and open its Premiere panel or start the Resolve connector. Automatic multicam, captions, Audio Cleanup and the other local tools work without a SmoothyEdit account or Studio plan.

Is Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve included?

SmoothyApp is free. Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are separate products. Premiere uses the bundled panel; DaVinci Resolve Free uses the local Scripts connector. You can also use local-file captions, compression and Audio Cleanup without either editor.

What do I need for Multicam?

A synced Premiere sequence or Resolve timeline with separate microphone tracks for each speaker and camera tracks mapped to them. Smoothy makes speaker-based cuts on a duplicate timeline in Premiere or a new timeline in Resolve. Mixed audio cannot provide the separate microphone inputs this workflow needs.

Does anything require internet?

Caption models and the Audio Cleanup engine need an initial download; transcription and audio processing then run locally. Stock Footage and Audio Library use internet for online discovery and downloads. Optional Studio, Chat and AI Photos use cloud services, an account and credits.

Does it work with DaVinci Resolve?

Yes, including DaVinci Resolve Free. Choose Resolve in the editor switcher and click Install Resolve helpers once. Start Workspace → Scripts → Smoothy Connector each Resolve session, then use Multicam, Silence Removal, Captions, Assets, AI Photos, Stock Footage and Audio Library with Resolve. No Resolve Studio licence is needed. Grades, effects, fades and mixer processing are not copied into generated timelines, so review the imported edit.
